The greater opportunity is to connect those patterns with professional interpretation, so educators can decide what the evidence means, what deserves attention and what should happen next.

Describing performance is valuable, but its instructional usefulness increases when educators can connect that description with a plausible explanation and a practical response. This shifts the measure of effective assessment software away from the volume of information it produces and towards how clearly that evidence supports the decisions that follow.

Useful Reporting Begins with the Teaching Decision

Reports can answer many questions about performance. The more important design question is which of those answers help educators decide what to do next.
